COURSE DESCRIPTION
A33B Public Safety Seminar Units: 0.50
 
Prerequisite(s): None.

Limitation on Enrollment: Must be sworn peace officer
This course is a series of selected law enforcement, fire technology, or corrections topics designed to address specific public safety training mandates or California legislative requirements. This meets POST, STC, and California State Fire Marshal certified skills proficiency requirements for public safety mandated training. May be taken a total of four times. 16 hours lecture.
 
SHORT DESCRIPTION FOR CLASS SCHEDULE
This course is designed to address legislative requirements for fire, law enforcement, or corrections personnel.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.    Define new mandated laws and court decisions.

2.    Identify agency procedures for complying with state legislative requirements.

3.    Identify new reporting standards required for complying with state legislative mandates.

4.    Demonstrate verbal and nonverbal intercultural communication skills.

Students are also assigned reading, writing and other outside assignments equivalent to two hours per one hour lecture.

METHODS OF EVALUATION
 Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

•    Computational and writing assignments, including:  written homework and reading case studies.
•    Skill demonstrations, including:  class performance and skill performance.
•    Final examination.
