COURSE DESCRIPTION

30 Entrepreneurship Units: 3.00
 
Prerequisite: None.
 
The American Enterprise System, the nature and extent of American business, opportunities in business, and types of business organizations such as sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations. The course will particularly focus on the entrepreneur, the opportunity and the resources, pulling it all together with a business plan. 54 hours lecture.

Surveys the nature and extent of business. Includes organizations and opportunities in business.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.   Compare and contrast careers in the management of small
      business enterprises.

2.   Identify and understand problems faced by those who will work in a
      business, those who may have an opportunity to manage a
      business, and those who may eventually own their own business.

4.   Provide a practical guide and checklist for the small business
      person.

5.   Analyze problems challenging all people in business.

6.   Attain the ability to continue study in more advanced courses in
      specialized fields such as accounting, advertising, banking
      economics, finance, marketing, insurance and retailing.

7.   Develop better understanding of skills required by the person
      wishing to start their own business.

Students are also assigned reading, writing and other outside assignments equivalent to two hours per one hour lecture.
