COURSE DESCRIPTION

A10A Vice Operations Units: 0.25
 
Prerequisite(s):
AJ-B1B.
This course is designed as an overview of vice operations for law enforcement personnel. The course will include discussions on prostitution, solicitors of lewd sex acts, massage parlor investigations, pimping and pandering, pornography, and bookmaking. 8 hours lecture.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Describe tactics to effectively control commercial vice activities both independent and organized in form.

Analyze and describe the legal effects of prostitution investigations, solicitors for lewd sex acts, massage parlor investigations, pimping, pandering, pornography, basic bookmaking and cardroom enforcement.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
Methods of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing problem solving activities that allow for demonstrating required skills and knowledge of investigating and controlling vice operations, including prostitution, solicitors of lewd sex acts, massage parlor investigations, pimping and pandering, pornography, and bookmaking.
  • Lab demonstrations to illustrate vice activities and effective tactics to control vice operations.
  • Participation in simulation exercises that will allow practical application and will demonstrate mastery of required skills and knowledge of investigating and controlling vice operations, including prostitution, solicitors of lewd sex acts, massage parlor investigations, pimping and pandering, pornography, and bookmaking.
  • Assigning required reading in order to supplement classroom activities and expand knowledge of vice activities and effective tactics to control vice operations.
  • Practicing learned skills to reinforce tactics to effectively control commercial vice activities both independent and organized in form.
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION
Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Skill demonstrations, class performance, problem solving activities, simulation exercises and skill performance to measure student learning progress on describing, analyzing, investigating, and controlling vice activities.
  • Final examination to evaluate mastery of vice operations for law enforcement personnel.
