Prerequisite: None.
 
The organization, functions and jurisdiction of juvenile agencies; the processing and detention of juveniles; juvenile case disposition; juvenile statutes and court procedures. 54 hours lecture.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

To provide a basic knowledge, appreciation, and an understanding
of juvenile law enforcement for those persons planning law
enforcement as a career.

To provide a basic knowledge of laws affecting juveniles.

To develop skills in analyzing and interpreting state laws and local
ordinances pertaining to the welfare of youth.

To develop an understanding of the aims and jurisdictions of
juvenile Bureaus, Probation Department, the Juvenile Court, and
the California Youth Authority.

To recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the community as
related to Delinquency Control and Prevention.
