  • Concurrent enrollment in automotive technology program.
Principles of service procedures relating to an automotive maintenance program with emphasis being placed upon a laboratory experience to include a minimum of 54 hours per semester and a maximum of 216 hours per semester.
 
SHORT DESCRIPTION FOR CLASS SCHEDULE
Automotive service procedures and live repair of automobiles in a controlled laboratory.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

Perform the functions of an entry-level automotive technician in a
work environment or in the completion of special projects assigned
by instructors.

Read and interpret written repair and service orders.

Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with customers or
the general public concerning repairs and estimates.
 
COURSE CONTENT
  TOPICS
 
  1. The content of this class is a practical experience in which students get on-the-job or similar project-based experience in automotive technology in preparation for entry-level employment.
  2. Students will have an opportunity to learn the work environment, expectations and practice their skill sets.
  3. Students may work on an approved sepcial project in an automotive shor in a paid or on a volunteer basis.
  4. The practical aspects of this class will reinforce students' skills in:
    1. Automotive service and repair
    2. Written and verval communication
    3. Customer relations
    4. Imterpersonal relations
    5. Methods of diagnosing and troubleshooting automotive compnents
    6. Writting service and repair orders

 
 
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
 Methods of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing opportunities for skills reinforcement through practical experience in auto service and repair.
  • Exposing students to a variety of automotive work and career environments.

 
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION
 Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Hands-on problem-solving exercises that demonstrate students’ ability to complete automotive service and repair.
  • Practical exercises and laboratory assignments to demonstrate students’ comprehension and application of procedures and techniques.
  • Final applied project that demonstrates students’ proficiency in completing assigned auto repair tasks.
