COURSE DESCRIPTION

30 Ford Minor Serv/Shop Practices Units: 2.00
 
Prerequisite: None.
 
An introduction to auto shop safety, auto shop practices, automotive dealership operation and minor service of Ford, Lincoln/Mercury and Mazda vehicles, including wind noise and water leaks. Also includes an overview of the various career ladders and divisions of Ford Motor Company and dealership operations. The course prepares students for entry-level employment at Ford, Lincoln/Mercury and Mazda automotive dealerships. 27 hours lecture and 27 hours laboratory.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.   Demonstrate safe work practices.

2.   Safety operate a customer’s vehicle.

3.   Identify selected automotive service tools and demonstrate their
      proper usage.

4.   Use specified Ford service information sources to obtain the
      required service procedures, specifications, and warranty
      information for the Ford, Lincoln/Mercury, and Mazda product lines.

5.   Correctly perform specified minor services on selected vehicle
      components and/or systems.

6.   Identify and describe the major divisions of Ford Motor Company
      including chain of command at dealerships, Ford Motor Company
      regional personnel, and Technical Support Operation personnel.

7.   Identify and describe components of the Ford Career Entry
      programs.

8.   Properly complete National Automotive Dealer Association (NADA)
      application for employment.

9.   Utilize effective strategies to secure sponsorship for career entry
      programs.
