COURSE DESCRIPTION
51 Telecommunications Laboratory Units: 1.00
 
Prerequisite(s): None.

Advisory: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in FTV/MUS-11, FTV-42, 43, 44 or FTV/JOU-45.
Supervised laboratory work on television production, audio recording and film projects. Builds and reinforces skills through practical application in industry internships and project studies in the area of television, audio recording and film production. May be taken a total of four times. 54 hours laboratory.
 
SHORT DESCRIPTION FOR CLASS SCHEDULE
Supervised laboratory work on television production, audio recording and film projects and industry internships.
 
ADVISORY ENTRY SKILLS
Before entering the course, students will be able to:
  1. Utilize a variety of television, audio or film production equipment.

  2. Work cooperatively and collaboratively in a diverse media production team.

  3. Plan and execute a finished production project (television, audio or film) through all production phases of pre-production, production and post production.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.   Demonstrate hands-on television production, audio recording 
      and/or film production skills under supervision.

2.   Demonstrate professional studio behavior, work ethics and the 
      ability to work in a team production environment.

3.   Develop strategies to solve production challenges and to 
      complete production projects in a timely and efficient manner.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
 Methods of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assigning team production projects that require cooperative planning and production skills.
  • Requiring regular and structured reporting on project progress. 
  • Monitoring student progress in industry internships.
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION
 Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated completion of assigned project within the required schedule and production parameters.
  • Demonstrated completion of 54 laboratory hours.
