COURSE DESCRIPTION

25 Introduction to Oxacetylene Welding Units: 3.00
 
Prerequisite: None.
 
An introductory course in basic oxyacetylene welding, industrial safety, and common metals and materials used in welding. 27 hours lecture and 81 hours laboratory.
 
SHORT DESCRIPTION FOR CLASS SCHEDULE

Basic course in oxyacetylene welding, including safe handling of gases, torches, and other equipment related to gas welding processes.

None.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.   Identify safe working habits, shop practices, and standards.

2.   Demonstrate the safe use and operation of the oxyacetylene welding
      equipment.

3.   Describe in detail the complete set-up and shut-down procedures on the
       oxyacetylene manifold system.

4.   Identify the various types and sizes of welding tips.
