COURSE DESCRIPTION

16 Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Weld Units: 3.00
 
Prerequisite(s): WEL 15: Basic Metal Arc Weld
An advanced course in shielded metal arc welding, shop and industrial safety, and common metal and materials used in the welding industry. 27 hours lecture and 81 hours laboratory.
 
SHORT DESCRIPTION FOR CLASS SCHEDULE

Advanced course in shielded metal arc welding including out-of-position and unlimited thickness.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1.   Demonstrate safety procedures, theory, and practical application as
      applied to advanced welding processes.

2.   Describe the various welding power supplies.

3.   Demonstrate the techniques for out-of-position welding using a low
      hydrogen electrode.

4.   Identify a selected group of symbols, which are commonly used for
      structural steel applications.
