  • Concurrent enrollment in any Math course.
Math Center access for students who feel they will benefit from use of the Math Center’s resources. May be taken a total of 4 times. 27 hours of laboratory required for credit. (Non-degree credit course. Pass/No Pass only.)

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
 Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
  1. Utilize a variety of resources available in the Math Center, including individualized assistance, in order to develop independence in the practice of mathematics.
  2. Reinforce their knowledge of mathematical processes as taught in corequisite courses.
  3. Use computer tutorials to aid in the understanding of mathematics.
  4. Use diagnostic software to tailor study programs to meet their specific needs.
 
COURSE CONTENT
  TOPICS
 
  1. Laboratory:  The only focus of this course is to provide for practical use of resources available in the Math Center so that students may apply and strengthen mathematical skills taught in the corequisite classes.
 
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
 Methods of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Self-paced work on assignments from the corequisite courses
  • Individualized consultation with faculty, math paraprofessionals, tutors and/or lab aides
  • Cooperative learning groups
  • Informal group workshops with faculty and tutors
  • Computerized tutorial software
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION
 Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Students will be evaluated for mastery of learning objectives by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:  oral and written communication with instructors and tutor, completion of computerized tests.
  • This is a credit/no-credit course based on attendance.  No outside assignments will be given.  Students completing 27 hours in the Math Center will receive credit for the course.
