COURSE DESCRIPTION
200 Air Conditioning Wrk Exp Units: 1.00 - 4.00
 
Prerequisite(s): None.

Advisory: Students should have paid or voluntary employment.
This course is designed to coordinate the student’s occupational on-the-job training with related classroom instruction. Students enrolled in this occupational work experience course must be employed in a field related to the work experience subject area. Students may earn up to four (4) units each semester for a maximum of 16 units of work experience. No more than 20 hours per week may be applied toward the work requirement. 18 hours lecture. Additionally, 60 hours of volunteer work or 75 hours of paid work is required for each unit.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
 Methods of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Class lectures/discussions to assist students in achieving the learning outcomes by reviewing relevant course content
  • Assigned writing assignments to expose the student to situations/problems which reinforce lecture presentation material
  • Problem solving tasks and activities to assist the student in achieving learning outcomes
  • Videos, films, and slides and provide handouts to give the student a better feeling of exposure to activities in industry and related fields
  • Pair and small group activities, discussions, and exercises to promote discovery and enhance problem solving skills
  • Guest lecturers to bring current industry experience directly into the classroom and help students attain objectives through direct interface with active professionals
 
METHODS OF EVALUATION
 Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or mastery of learning outcomes by methods of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual and group assignments designed to demonstrate successful understanding and application of basic concepts and definitions related to the occupation chosen
  • Questions on topics and content designed to evaluate students’ understanding of the course content
  • Quizzes/examinations designed to assess students’ ability to recall, critically analyze and apply key concepts and course content
  • Participation as required by instructor to ensure progress in mastering the course content and participation in collaborative learning projects
  • Final examination designed to assess students’ mastery of the essential concepts explored in the course
